On Museum Access we take you behind-the-scenes at America’s top museums, but ever wonder what goes on behind-the-scenes at Museum Access? We are excited to roll out this official blog, Museum Access Travels, where we will give you even more insider tips and tricks, highlight exciting exhibitions across the country, and give you ideas on how to make learning an adventure for all ages.

Up first, let’s meet the expert, the brains behind the show and the producer and creator of Museum Access, Leslie Mueller:

“From the age of thirteen, when I took my first class at the Art Institute of Chicago and many earlier visits to Chicago’s acclaimed Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium and the Museum of Science & Industry, I was hooked! I had a natural curiosity for these institutions that housed such magical objects. Each visit was an adventure filled with so many surprises. That’s not to say that as a child I wasn’t a bit intimidated by their grandeur (who wouldn’t be by how much there is to take in!), but I quickly learned that I had nothing to be intimidated by. Each museum has its own personality, unique interactive exhibits, friendly staff and so many people behind-the-scenes keeping things running smoothly.

Ever since then, museums have always been a passion of mine. I have had the opportunity to visit many to the world’s top museums and I am always amazed when I can dig a little deeper into a particular culture. As a fine artist, graphic designer and producer, I am excited to be able to share these incredible national treasures we call museums with viewers nationwide on Museum Access. They are wondrous time capsules of human history, displaying our achievements by showing us where we have been and where we dream to go.

When I decided to create Museum Access, I knew my passion for providing unique behind-the-scenes looks at museums for viewers all over the world was unique. I love being able to share my conversations with curators, anthropologists, paleontologists, astronauts, marine biologists, artists and countless other experts that are at the top of their game. Don’t live near the Adler Planetarium in Chicago? We’ll take you there! In fact, we’ll take you to the moon and back from the comfort of your own home. Always wanted to know how the C.I.A. gathers intelligence worldwide 24/7? We’ll take you to the private museum at the C.I.A. headquarters in Langley, Virginia, no security clearance needed.

To me, museums are the greatest equalizer. They welcome all people regardless of age or education. The only prerequisite is a curious mind and a sense of adventure. As the host of Museum Access, I realize that I have so much to learn and share with our viewers. If you’re new to Museum Access, we welcome you! If you are a seasoned expert and fan of our show, welcome back! I am honored to share my passion and commitment to these important institutions and hope you take full advantage of all the resources we offer. From full episodes of season one and two on Amazon Prime Video, to educational fun sheets and our new Museum Access classroom series that include full lesson plans for parents, teacher and homeschoolers, a curated toy collection to spark creativity and make learning fun – our main goal at Museum Access – and even our stylish On-the Go Collection of travel bags that are perfect for your next museum visit. Let’s make every visit an adventure together!”
