501 : THE MILWAUKEE ART MUSEUM – Milwaukee, WI
Join host Leslie Mueller on the shores of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, WI at the breathtaking Milwaukee Art Museum. Stroll down the streets of Paris at a very special exhibition of posters by French artist Jules Cheret. Learn how this ‘Father of the Poster’ impacted everyday Parisians at the end of the 19th century through his striking posters. Then join Leslie ‘behind-the-scenes’ in the design area to learn how the design team transformed the gallery spaces into the streets of Paris creating an extraordinary experience for museum guests.

Tour the WWII German U-505 submarine and learn about its’ historical capture, unlocking German technology that dramatically reduced loss of allied ships. With exhibits ranging from Square Wheeled Tricycles and Twisted Thruways to Synchronized Spins and Formula Morphing and everything interactive in between. MOMATH reveals the wonders of mathematics in our everyday lives. So who says math can’t be fun? They certainly have not been to the National Museum of Mathematics!

Join host Leslie Mueller near the Statue of Liberty in Liberty State Park – Jersey City, NJ as she explores the spectacular Liberty Science Center. See the incredible live animal collection including 2 resident snakes, a sassy parrot, the giant aquarium and go ‘behind-the-scenes’ in the largest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere when it opened, where visitors experience distant galaxies in the 89’ full dome theatre.

Join host Leslie Mueller in the heart of Chicago at the world renowned Art Institute. Study the George Seuret masterpiece, ‘La Grande Jatte’ and the painting technique he pioneered called pointillism. Go ‘behind-the-scenes’ to see how this iconic painting was reframed not only to enhance the painting, but also to enhance the viewers experience with this beloved masterpiece. Then enjoy a bonus ‘behind-the-scenes’ with an Art Institute conservation scientist and a very special artifact

506: THE SAILING MUSEUM –
Newport, RI
Join host Leslie Mueller at the Sailing Museum on the waterfront in Newport, RI. Learn the basics of sailing, the making of a sailor and more in this very interactive museum. Set sail with Leslie as she navigates a racing boat at the virtual tiller exhibit, and see what it’s really like to be part of a sailing team on the deck of a racing yacht. Then join Leslie at the nearby Herreshoff Marine Museum. Learn about the history of design, engineering and manufacturing of boats that took place on-site at Herreshoff Manufacturing. See their private model room and workshop, the spectacular Hall of Boats and the 75’ DEFIANT built in 1992 for the America’s Cup race.

507: ‘THE BEST OF WORLD HISTORY’

Join host Leslie Mueller as she visits 3 fan favorite museums in this special ‘Best of World History’ episode. We begin in the Egyptian wing of NYC’s Metropolitan Museum of Art at the Temple of Dendur. Learn how it came to the museum and how it was actually cleaned in place. Next stop is China as we learn about the incredible Terra Cotta Warriors exhibition hosted by the Field Museum in Chicago. These larger-than-life figures stood guard over China’s first emperor in his tomb for centuries until they were accidentally discovered by a farmer in his field. Next, we visit Italy and the collection of machines designed by Leonardo da Vinci. This special exhibition traveling North America featured the drawings and models of many of da Vinci’s inventions including, the bicycle, the helicopter, double hulled boats, and winged gliders.

508: THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ILLUSTRATION – Newport, RI
Join host Leslie Mueller as she explores the Golden Age of Illustration at the National Museum of American Illustration in beautiful Newport, RI. Step into breathtaking Vernon Court, a Gilded Age mansion that houses a world class collection of American illustrations. See how legendary illustrators like NC Wyeth, JC Leyendecker, Maxfield Parrish and Norman Rockwell provided a visual record of how we saw our social and cultural history at the time. Then join Leslie as she visits the studio of Marisabina Russo, a present day illustrator to see how the illustration process has changed through the years.

509: THE STERLING HILL MINING MUSEUM – Ogdensburg, NJ
Join host Leslie Mueller as she visits an underground zinc mine in Ogdensburg, New Jersey at The Sterling Hill Mining Museum. A National Historic Site and considered the florescent mineral capital of the world, this mine has 35 miles of tunnels. See where workers gathered each morning in the old mill building, visit an underground lake, see tunnels that glow with florescent zinc ore and see the nearby private outdoor pit where a huge slab of fluorescent zinc ore was removed for permanent display at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC.

510: THE NEUE GALERIE NEW YORK –

Join host Leslie Mueller as she visits the Neue Galerie New York in NYC. The stunning mansion on 5th Ave.’s Museum Mile focuses on 20thC German and Austrian art. See the decorative arts gallery and learn about the world famous painting, ‘Woman in Gold’ by Gustave Klimt, the revolutionary technique he used to create this masterpiece and it’s unusual journey from Vienna to its’ permanent home in NYC. Then join Leslie at CHRISTIES auction house to learn more about the world of art restitution after WWII.
